Anatomical landmarks for ultrasound‐guided rectus femoris diagnostic nerve block in post‐stroke spasticity

چکیده
Introduction/Purpose To determine the location of rectus femoris (RF) motor branch nerve, as well its coordinates with reference to anatomical and ultrasound landmarks. Methods Thirty chronic stroke patients stiff knee gait (SKG) RF hyperactivity were included. The nerve muscle was identified medially vertical line from anterior superior iliac spine midpoint margin patella (line AP) vertically horizontal femoral pulse intersection point AP F). (M) located ultrasound, depth subcutaneous tissue thickness (ST) calculated. Results 2.82 (0.47) cm 4.61 (0.83) F. Nerve 2.71 (0.62) 1.12 (0.75) cm, respectively. Conclusion use specific may increase clinicians' confidence when performing block. This could lead better decision-making assessing SKG in patients.

Rectus Femoris Tendon Calcification
Background: Since it was developed, hip arthroscopy has become the favored treatment for femoroacetabular impingement. Due to recent considerable improvements, the indications for this technique have been widely extended. Injuries of the rectus femoris tendon origin, after an acute phase, could result in a chronic tendinopathy with calcium hydroxyapatite crystal deposition, leading to pain and ...
متن کاملProximal rectus femoris lengthening.
There are two main problems with muscle tendon lengthening: thinness created by the technical procedure weakens the tendon, and in short tendons, lengthening may not provide enough length for the amount of joint motion required. In proximal rectus femoris lengthening, the distal ends of the reflected and straight heads are sutured together. Using this technique, the tendon will not be thinned, ...

Poststroke spasticity management.
P oststroke spasticity (PSS) is a common complication associated with other signs and symptoms of the upper motor neuron syndrome, including agonist/antagonist co-contraction, weakness, and lack of coordination. Together, they result in impairments and functional problems that can predispose to costly complications. The goal of PSS management should take into consideration not only reduction of...
متن کاملBotulinum toxin in poststroke spasticity.
Poststroke hemiparesis, together with abnormal muscle tone, is a major cause of morbidity and disability. Although most hemiparetic patients are able to reach different ambulatory levels with rehabilitation efforts, upper and lower limb spasticity can impede activities of daily living, personal hygiene, ambulation and, in some cases, functional improvement. The goals of spasticity management in...
